Below The Surface

Below The Surface

We thought our teen years were going to be the end of our acne days, and for some of us they were. However, for others it was just the beginning. Acne is a natural process that everyone will have to go through. Granted, some people have it worse than others but that is ok. Before I go on no matter what your age is and how bad your acne is – its ok, keep your head held high and smile. The great side to acne is there are ways to cure it. There are medicines that you can use to help clear up this situation. There are cosmetics that you can use to get rid and prevent more acne from appearing. As well as, other procedures that you can do to help with acne and the scars. Yet, before trying any of these actions that are suggested, please talk to your dermatologist.

According to American Academy of Dermatology, women in their 30’s and beyond still have acne. It may not be visible on the face, but it can be found in other places around the body. Some of the most common places are the back, shoulders, butt, and your upper arms. There also is not just one type of acne, there is the common blackheads and whiteheads but, that’s not all. There is this type called Papules which feels hard and makes your skin feel like sandpaper. There are Cysts which is when pours fill up with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria. This type can hurt a lot if the bacteria travels deeper into the skin. Last, there are Nodules which are large hard bumps that are under the surface of your skin. This type will leave scars.

comic-849384_640 According to U.S. National Library of Medicine (Medline Plus) no one knows exactly what causes acne. However, there have been studies done showing a link with acne and hormone changes, which can explain why teenagers and women are prone to it. There are other studies that shows that stress does not cause acne but it can make matters worse. Also, little evidence that food causes acne. So go ahead and eat that greasy food and sweets, just not a lot of it because it can cause other issues in your health.

People that have acne may feel like they never look good because of their acne and once all their self-esteem is gone they become depressed. Depression is actually most common for those who have acne, because they seem to separate themselves from people and feel like they are ugly and no one will accept them for who they are, and since they are this way at such a young age it becomes a trait of theirs well into their adult years. The interesting thing that scientist have found was no matter the severances of acne someone had, it didn’t affect if or if not someone had depression or anxiety from it. Meaning someone with very little acne could also become depressed because of it.
